The SSI Junior Open Water Diver course at Signature Scuba Gili Trawangan is a beginner-level certification designed for young adventurers aged 10 to 14. It provides the same comprehensive training as the adult course, with age-appropriate guidance from our SSI & PADI certified instructors.

Designed specifically for children aged 10 to 14, this course teaches the same fundamental skills as the adult Open Water Diver course, but with smaller groups, more patience, and extra attention to building confidence and comfort underwater.
📖 Course Overview
The SSI Junior Open Water Diver course is specially designed for young adventurers aged 10 to 14 who want to discover the magic of the underwater world. Over 3 days, young divers complete a combination of engaging theory sessions, fun pool training, and four open water dives to earn their Junior Open Water certification.
The course uses age-appropriate teaching methods, including videos, interactive materials, and plenty of hands-on practice. Topics include equipment familiarization, underwater communication, basic dive physics (presented in easy-to-understand terms), safety procedures, and marine life awareness.
During pool sessions, young divers practice essential skills in shallow, warm, comfortable water. Skills include mask clearing, regulator recovery, buoyancy control, fin techniques, and emergency procedures. Instructors provide patient, encouraging guidance — building confidence step by step.
Open water dives are conducted in calm, protected sites with excellent visibility and abundant marine life. Junior Open Water Divers aged 10-11 dive to a maximum depth of 12 meters (40 feet). Those aged 12-14 can dive to 18 meters (60 feet) under the supervision of an SSI Professional or certified parent/guardian.
Upon turning 15, Junior Open Water Divers automatically qualify for the full Open Water Diver certification without any additional training — simply request the upgrade at any SSI dive center.
